It’s a sad habit this season. For the sixth time in recent weeks, a World Cup round has been canceled due to weather conditions. This time it was the Super-G event, which was to take place in Beaver Creek this Sunday, which could not take place.

This is the third day of events which is canceled this weekend in Colorado, in the United States. Already on Friday and Saturday, neither descent had started. Races which should nevertheless allow Alexis Pinturault to embark on his new objective, that of becoming a downhill specialist.

To these first two canceled events is added the Super-G initially scheduled for this Sunday. “It’s too windy this morning at Beaver Creek,” explained the International Ski Federation on its X account (formerly Twitter).

The FIS “hopes for better weather” for the future

“We would like to warmly thank all the volunteers and the hard-working team. Your dedication is the true spirit of this sport. We hope to have better weather during the next races,” we can read in the same publication.

Since the start of the season, only the Gurgl slalom, which saw Manuel Feller triumph, has been able to take place. No speed test has yet taken place due to weather conditions. The failure of the descents and the Super-G at Beaver Creek therefore adds to the already frustrating weekends experienced by skiers in Sölden (giant, wind), and in Zermatt-Cervinia (descents, wind).

Skiers will hope to (finally) start from the gates during the next World Cup weekend. They will meet in Val d’Isère, France, on December 9 and 10, for a slalom and a giant.
