ALS, the Capodarco Community in Action

by time news

On September 15, the Capodarco Community lights up in green, the symbolic color of the National ALS Day (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). An important moment to give resonance and support the essential research. For the occasion, the Outpatient Center in via Vallescura 47, led by the health director Valentina Koxha, is organizing from 5 pm the “TomboSLA. For research and for treatment”, the exceptional croupier will be Maurizio Cruciani. An example of vitality and willpower, Cruciani discovered the pathology in 2020 at just 49 years old. Today he communicates through a tablet and thanks to his passion for IT he has created a special program that will allow him to extract numbers. ALS affects more than 6000 patients in Italy, of which almost 160 are from the Marche (AISLA estimates, 2020). The Capodarco Community of Fermo has been at the forefront of treatments for years, provided by professionals who work in the Outpatient Center. A team effort involving different professional figures, because the approach to ALS requires 360-degree support, being a pathology that does not only involve the affected person but the entire family unit. During the day, starting at 2:00 p.m., the Outpatient Center launches the first Open Day “VisitaciTU”, to give everyone the opportunity to visit the internal gym and meet part of the team, ready to tell what the rehabilitation service does in general and in particular for ALS.
