“We were right and the shareholders had planned everything. There is a lot of anger,” exclaims Amar Landraa, CGT union representative from Unterland Metal. This is how the office partition manufacturer Clestra in Illkirch-Graffenstaden (Bas-Rhin) was renamed last July by its new owner, the Jestia groupwhich has just announced the dismissal of 125 employees after three months of strike.

Specializing in the management of EHPADs and furniture for communities, Jestia took over Clestra in November 2022 with the help of a loan of 5 million euros granted by the State and the Grand-Est region. “It’s been three months since 90% of employees were on strike to warn about this scenario written in advance. The new owners collected money from the public authorities and liquidated 9 months later. It’s an absolute scandal,” says the union representative.

A reclassification of dismissed employees?

With the judicial liquidation pronounced by the Paris commercial court on Tuesday, 125 employees find themselves subject to outright dismissal. “We will now negotiate the job protection plan with management. We are demanding a reclassification of dismissed employees within this group which remains the world leader in the manufacturing of office partitions,” warns Amar Landraa.

New actions are planned this Friday in front of the Illkirch-Graffenstaden factory but also in front of the Bas-Rhin prefecture. “As long as we can,” announced the CGT delegate, “we will be keen to demonstrate that the Jestia group has taken us for a ride. »
