Zubair Mohammed, co-founder and journalist of Alt News, a leading fact-checking website, has been arrested. Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell. The police action was taken on charges of inciting religious hatred and inciting riots. The two had clashed on social media over the posting of a video against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for making anti-prophetic remarks. Rahul Gandhi said the arrest was reprehensible and that those who exposed the BJP’s hatred and propaganda were seen as a threat.
