BARCELONA, 17 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
In its 103rd edition, which will be held from March 18 to 24, 2024, the Volta a Catalunya will feature an unprecedented start on the route from Altafulla, following the agreement reached between the town’s City Council and the organization of the Catalan round.
For the first time, Altafulla will be able to enjoy in its territory the presence of the best cyclists and teams in the world with a stage start whose goal has yet to be revealed, since only two finals are known; one in Queralt and another in Viladecans.
“We are very happy that Altafulla will host for the first time a start of the Volta a Catalunya, one of the most important cycling events on the international calendar and which has the participation of most of the best cyclists of the moment. It will be a great showcase for show our municipality to the whole world,” said the co-mayor of Altafulla, Jordi Molinera.
Altafulla is a town of about 5,600 inhabitants in Tarragonès, on the Costa Daurada. “Well preserved and respectful of its protected environment, Altafulla enjoys the leisure offer located just a few minutes away and the tranquility of an ideal place to live, work, visit and enjoy,” the organization says.
“It is a pride to welcome Altafulla on the Volta route. After more than one hundred editions of the race, being able to continue discovering new venues as will be the case of Altafulla next 2024 is a sign that the Volta a Catalunya continues growing. The municipality will have the best cyclists in the world in its home and that is a privilege,” said Rubèn Peris, president of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.
