Activity during September 13 and 14

For the Friday the 13th The participation of educational centers and companies that operate from Monday to Friday is expected. These groups will gather at Plaza El Obelisco, where the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) will be present to support traffic management.

PMT agents will be present in sectors such as Las Américas Avenue, Hincapié Avenue, Liberación Boulevard, Reforma Avenue, Los Próceres Boulevard and Diagonal 6 in Zone 10, among others, to ensure the fluidity of traffic and the safety of participants and drivers.

The Guatemala City PMT recommends that Guatemalans who usually travel through the mentioned areas take the following alternative routes:

  • Mariachi Square
  • Bolivar Avenue
  • 13th Street Zone 12
  • Peripheral
  • Atanasio Tzul Causeway

Parking restrictions at the Obelisco Plaza

Parking for buses and private vehicles in the perimeter of Plaza El Obelisco is restricted, and this measure will continue to be in effect during the activities related to the torches. The authorities have asked the organizers and participants to use only the right lane of the roads for their transfers and to follow the guidelines of the traffic authorities.

Civic activities in the Plaza de la Constitución

On September 14 and 15, the Plaza de la Constitución will be the center of commemorative activities.
