BOLZANO. In South Tyrol Tomorrow, September 5th, the bell of the new school year will ring for the children of the nursery schools and for the students of the South Tyrolean schools of all levels. There will be no “special classes”, i.e. only for “non-German” children.initially foreseen by the Goethe Elementary School Bolzanobut then stopped by the Autonomous Province.

A total of 89,209 children and young people will return to classwith the phenomenon of the decline in births that is also reflected in the school landscape of South Tyrol. Last year, in fact, there were a total of 90,958 enrollments, in 2022/23 they amounted to 90,366 and in the 2021/22 school year upon returning from the holidays there were 90,454 children and young people enrolled.

For the next school year, enrollment in German-language kindergartens and schools amounts to 64,026 children and young people.

In detail, 11,302 will attend a nursery school, 20,478 will go to primary school and 11,472 to a middle school. The students who will attend a German-language secondary school are 12,346, 8,428 those who have opted for a vocational or technical school.
