Aluva police arrested four more people including SI and his son in the case of smuggling 28 kilos of ganja by train. Naveen, a native of Vazhakulam, who had gone abroad, was arrested after being brought back to the country. SI Sajan of Tadiittaparam station was arrested for facilitating the escape of his son.

On April 22, the main accused was arrested in the case of smuggling 28 kg of ganja on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Express. Aluva police arrested Naveen, a native of Vazhakulam, his father Sajan, Ans, a native of Arakkapady, and Basil Thomas, a native of Perumbavoor. Rajinikanth Malik, Chak Dol Pradhan and Sharmanand Pradhan, natives of Kandamal, Odisha were arrested for bringing ganja. They brought cannabis for Naveen. Naveen is an accused in the ganja case before this.

Naveen, who went abroad after the incident, was brought back to the country and arrested. Sajan was arrested for protecting his son and helping him to cross abroad even though he knew he was a suspect. Anse and Basil Thomas were arrested for having close links with the cannabis gang and providing them with hideouts and vehicles. Vehicles, mobile phones and cash have been recovered from the accused. Ganja was found in the train during a raid conducted by a special investigation team following a tip-off received by Rural District Police Chief Vivek Kumar.
