Argentina’s star striker Julian Alvarez has been released by Manchester City. He left Man City and joined Atletico Madrid for five years. For this, Man City has to pay 95 million euros or 104 million dollars to the Spanish La Liga club. However, initially Man City will have to pay 82 million dollars.

Man City have never sold a player for such a high price before. In 2022, they sold Ferran Torres to Barcelona for a maximum of $70 million.

World Cup winner Alvarez, 24, scored just 19 goals in 54 appearances for Man City last season. However, due to Arling Haaland, he was not getting a chance to play in the regular starting XI in his preferred number 9 position. That is why he originally wanted to leave Man City and CTO released him at a high price.

Alvarez joined Man City in 2022 from River Plate for $17.8 million. The Argentine star has since gone on to win all competitions for the Sky Blues. His bag of titles is quite rich. Holds major titles like World Cup, Copa America, UEFA Champions League and English Premier League.

After 2021, Messi won the Copa America title in 2024. Then there was a chance to win an Olympic medal. But Alvarez-Otamendira left after losing to France in the quarter-finals. Alvarez is currently resting.

La Liga 2024-25 season will start from August 15. And Atletico Madrid will enter the field on the night of August 20 against Villarreal. Alvarez can make his debut for the Colchoneros with this match.

Atletico Madrid, however, have also brought in another striker, Alexander Sorloth, ahead of Alvarez. Now they have started to prepare the team to regain the La Liga title and win the Champions League.

Before Alvarez, his Argentinian teammates Nahuel Molina and Angel Correra are at Atletico. There is Argentine coach Diego Simeone. Under whose supervision, Atletico has created a strong position in La Liga.
