The Lebanese Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Iraqi medical aid in this situation is a generous initiative from the State of Iraq, noting that Iraq is the first country to take the initiative to help sent to Lebanon.
Al-Abyad said, “This donation consists of more than 15 tons of medicines and medical supplies that arrived on the first plane, and we are also waiting for the arrival of more than 70 tons on another plane in Iraq.”
He added, “There are about 20 doctors and health workers in the Iraqi medical delegation that came to Beirut on board this plane, and the plane is able to evacuate about 30 injured people,” expressing his gratitude in to “the state of Iraq for always extending a helping hand to Lebanon, especially in the health sector.” “.
Regarding the number of wounded people, the Minister of Health explained that “so far the number has reached around 3,000,” pointing out that “there are serious injuries to the eyes and face, and we are monitoring whether it is necessary with some of the wounded for Iraq.”
He said “this shipment is the first aid shipment to arrive in Lebanon after yesterday’s Zionist attack,” explaining that “the Iraqi Minister of Health has confirmed Iraq’s readiness to provide any further aid to Lebanon.”
