Online shopping has become very popular nowadays. Everything from coffers to smartphones can be purchased online from the comfort of your seat. This is why many online shopping apps like Amazon, Flipkart, Meezo have come up. So if you too are an Amazon shopper then there is an important update for you. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced that it has signed an agreement with Amazon to promote India’s creative economy. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (LoE), Amazon and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will be able to promote creative skills in India and increase the capacity of prestigious film and television companies. Apart from this, the agreement will also create opportunities for global exposure of creative content created in India.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur. Amazon India Vice President (Public Policy) Chetan Krishnasamy and Prime Video Vice President (Asia Pacific) Gaurav Gandhi were also present at the event.

Both Prime Video and Mini TV are offering internships and scholarships to students of Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTII), Amazon said in a statement.

Content from National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), National Broadcaster Doordarshan and International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be screened on Prime Video and Mini TV under the initiative ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Amrit Festival of Independent India.

Minister Anurag Thakur said that under this agreement, FTII and SRFTII students will be given scholarships, coaching, special classes and other opportunities. He also expressed hope that this will help strengthen industry-education linkage.
