Amazon has opened a robotic logistics center in El Far de l’Empordà (Girona)called BCN4, after an investment of 200 million euros and with an area of ​​more than 150,000 square meters.

It has 900 permanent workers and plans to generate 1,500 workplaces permanent with more than 60 different positions in the next three years.

One of the positions that can be created through the Amazon Robotics technology that the center has is that of engineers who use Kindles to generate a virtual map of the plant with the aim of identifying safe routes, which the company calls like Amazon Robotics Tech.

The general director of Amazon Customer Fulfillment in France, Italy and Spain, Fred Pattje, has pointed out that the launch of this center “shows that Catalonia plays a fundamental role for Amazon”.

The general director of the center, Jordi Bellana, has assured that cWith these facilities it will be possible to offer “a wide variety of quality workplacesas well as very interesting professional opportunities”.

The robotic area of ​​the center is 102,000 square meters, which includes technologies such as palletizing robots designed to group pallets and automated guided vehicles that transport items autonomously throughout the space.

With the opening of this center, Amazon exceeds 7,300 workers in Catalonia and reinforces its commitment to reach 25,000 permanent employees in Spain by the end of 2025.
