ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Amazon’s fulfillment center in New Mexico is looking to hire 1,600 employees in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. The e-commerce giant is offering both full-time positions with benefits and part-time seasonal jobs to assist with holiday expenses.

Zoe Richmond, a spokesperson for Amazon, expressed their hope of covering a wide range of jobseekers’ needs. “Whether you’re looking for a full-time position that comes with benefits starting on day one, or if you’re just looking for a seasonal job to help you with those holiday expenses, we hope to have you covered,” she said.

Moreover, Amazon emphasized its significant contribution to New Mexico’s economic growth, estimating it to be around $900 million. Richmond proudly stated, “We are very, very proud of the deep roots that we’ve been able to put down in New Mexico very, very quickly.”

The positions available for hiring primarily focus on the company’s logistics network. These employees play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of packages.

In addition to job opportunities, Amazon has also invested over $1 billion in pay increases. “Amazon offers really competitive pay. The pay range starts from $17-28 an hour. And that really depends on both the position and the shift that people apply for,” Richmond explained.

Compared to other U.S. retailers, Amazon stands out in terms of hiring. According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, traditional brick-and-mortar stores are expected to witness fewer customers due to higher prices. However, Amazon continues to expand its workforce to meet the growing demand for online shopping.
