The controversial Colombian ambassador to Mexico, Álvaro Moisés Ninco Daza, – who made headlines in the past for not having a professional degree – will face a disciplinary investigation before the Attorney General’s Office for an alleged case of labor abuse.

As announced by the entity, the preliminary investigation was opened this Friday and responds to public complaints of “dismissive behavior” of the ambassador with his subordinates at that diplomatic headquarters located in Mexico City.

Ambassador Ninco Daza has only completed five months in that position, having begun diplomatic work since last May 25. At that time, his name was very controversial because it was known that he did not have a professional title and because he was close to the Government only due to his work as a community manager.

As detailed by the Attorney General’s Office, “it appears that Ninco Daza had a lackadaisical treatment and behavior with his subordinates in different meetings or conversations held.”

Given these complaints, the public ministry asked the Foreign Ministry to “inform whether during the time the official has been an ambassador any complaints have been received against him” or whether it has open disciplinary processes related to the treatment between Ninco Daza and his subordinates.

Thus, the Attorney General’s Office assured that the objective of this investigation will be to “establish the occurrence of the reported conduct, determine if it constitutes a disciplinary offense, clarify the determining reasons, the circumstances of time, manner and place in which it could have occurred and the possible responsibility of the investigated.”

If the ambassador is found guilty, he could receive sanctions from the Attorney General’s Office, since this entity is in charge of reviewing the behavior of public officials and punishing disciplinary offenses. The truth is that this is not the first time that Ninco Daza has been immersed in a scandal. Even before he took office, public opinion and the media questioned that Álvaro Moisés Ninco Daza did not have either the work experience or the diplomatic career desired for that position.

In fact, Ninco Daza was also immersed in another investigation carried out by this control entity. According to the Attorney General’s Office at that time, the director of Public Function, César Manrique, “would have recommended to the President of the Republic to authorize the exceptional compensation of requirements without the servant appointed to the position proving outstanding experience in the performance of a discipline, occupation, art or craft.”
