Fruitful cooperation between Benin and China: Ambassador Peng Jingtao presents laurels to Patrice Talon

What you should know: On the occasion of a talk called “China Tuesday” organized by the Media Network for Sino-Beninese Cooperation, Chinese Ambassador to Benin Peng Jingtao expressed his curiosity to see a country like Benin develop over a period of time. “In seven years, I have never seen a country experience such dramatic change as Benin,” he said. During this monthly meeting, the diplomat took stock of the cooperation between the two countries and made known China’s position in relation to certain strategic and geopolitical orientations of his country. According to him, “if the momentum continues, you will be a great economic power in Africa and in the world”. For Peng Jingtao, this fruitful relationship between China and Benin, which is more than five decades old, deserves to be taken to a higher level. “After the celebration of 50 years of relations between the two countries, we must bring this relationship to another level with other activities”, hammered the diplomat.
Between the lines : To strengthen this relationship between the two countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, paid a three-day visit to Benin which led to important conclusions for the strengthening of the Beninese economic sector. The first fruits of this visit are reflected in the arrival of the association of Chinese entrepreneurs in Benin, which has allowed a mix with Beninese entrepreneurs. The logical result is Benin’s participation in the third edition of the China-Benin economic exhibition, without forgetting the organization of the China-Benin joint economic commission. In addition to this panoply of activities, there are several projects carried out within the framework of this relationship. We can cite, among others, the construction of the Niger-Benin pipeline, the participation of several Chinese companies in the construction of infrastructures falling within the execution of the Action Program for the Government (PAG1 and 2), the exemption agreement of certain Beninese products in China, including pineapple.
