Ambati Rambabu Faces New Case Over Video of Union Minister

Legal pressure is mounting on former state minister and YSRCP leader timesofindia.indiatimes.com following the filing of a fresh First Information Report at the Arundelpet police station in Guntur. The latest police action stems from a formal complaint lodged by Guntur district TDP president Pilli Manikyarao.

The Complaints and Criminal Charges in Guntur

According to the complaint, the social media content included a video designed to incite political animosity and disturb public peace. Local law enforcement responded by registering a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launching an active investigation.

This development compounds an existing legal challenge involving the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department. The AP CID previously booked Rambabu after a separate complaint by TDP leader Maddirala Mani. That initial filing alleged the former minister made objectionable remarks and disseminated a fabricated, AI-generated video showing the Union minister in handcuffs, with local complainants stating the material was created specifically to humiliate and tarnish Pemmasani’s reputation.

Official Submissions and Investigation Steps

The complaints leading to the initial CID action were formally submitted to top law enforcement officials. Local TDP representatives delivered the grievance materials to Guntur SP Vakul Jindal and CID Additional DG SP Reddy Gangadhar at the CID office located in Mangalagiri. Police officials confirmed that the matter is under formal investigation based on those submissions.

With two separate criminal cases now active against the opposition leader, speculation has intensified within political circles regarding whether investigators will move to arrest Rambabu as part of the ongoing proceedings.

Rambabu’s Defense and Political Fallout

Responding to the mounting legal actions, the YSRCP leader strongly rejected the accusations. Rambabu dismissed the entire matter, characterizing the criminal filings as politically motivated and accusing the ruling TDP administration of misusing state police machinery to target political opponents.

Furthermore, Rambabu maintained that he has engaged in no unlawful activity, claiming instead that the state-level cases are designed purely to harass him and silence opposition voices. As the Arundelpet police continue gathering evidence and reviewing the disputed digital media content, the inquiry remains open with no official timeline announced for its conclusion.
