Ambulance without a doctor, Russo fights with the ASL: no to cuts – Pescara

FRANCAVILLA. The mayor of Francavilla doesn’t like it, Louise Russothe line drawn by the ASL of Chieti, which has ruled out a return of the doctor on board the 118 ambulance. A choice that the health company communicated on the day it announced the transfer of the service to the health district starting from Tuesday, so as to definitively free up the Padovano institute and be able to start work on the construction of the community house. “I learned with disappointment the news of the ASL’s refusal to allow doctors to return on board the ambulances of Francavilla”, explains the mayor bitterly. “It’s a battle I’ve been fighting for a long time and not alone: ​​the city council unanimously approved a petition signed by hundreds of citizens”, he explains with reference to the collection of signatures organized by the councilor Livio Sarchesa of the M5S, which has embraced the entire administration in a transversal way, without however managing to change, at least up to now, the course of events. «The health authority, however, rejected our request, arguing that a health facility organized in this way would not be necessary». Then he continues: «It is not true, however, that medicalized ambulances always manage to arrive from Pescara within the times estimated by the ASL (which spoke of about ten minutes, ndc) and, as we know, in certain situations a handful of minutes can make the difference between life and death. It is clear, therefore, that this is a choice dictated by the well-known financial problems that the ASL has been navigating for some time».
Then he takes a step back, returning to address a still unresolved issue, namely the failure to return the vaccination center to the city area, still located in the San Giovanni Teatino health district: «On the other hand, the same story happened with the vaccination center: once closed, the health company published two notices to identify new suitable premises, but the requirements of the tender were too stringent and economically inconvenient for any private individual». And he adds: «I understand that, in a moment of difficulty, the ASL is forced to rationalize its resources, but you can’t save on health, especially in an area that has already been neglected enough by the health authority». Finally, the conclusion on the news of the start of the works that will lead to the construction of the community house: «The only positive note is the one regarding the relocation of the 118 headquarters within the Alento district health district, so as to allow the renovation of the former Padovano institute. This is an intervention that has been awaited for years: I hope it will be carried out as soon as possible».
