AMD has put in the hands of manufacturers of graphics cards a chip Navi 31 compacted compared to that used in the RX 7900 XT and XTX, which for now is only used in the RX 7900 GRE. You can see in the image below the difference in size, mainly due to cutting the memory bus from 384 bits to 256 bits which simplifies the packaging, plus other changes I have made to achieve it. Now it is rumored that this Navi 31 chip especial could end up on laptops.

The truth is that AMD has left the issue of Radeons for laptops quite aside, so it is a sector in which it does not have much presence or variety of models. Of the RX 7000 it only has three 7600 models and one 7700, with disparate performance.

If I used this Navi 31 chip for laptops it would mean that I would have an alternative to the RTX 4080 or 4090 of NVIDIA laptops, or maybe not because it is not known with what shader configuration I would manufacture it. The 7700S has 2048 double shaders, while the 7900 GRE has 5120, and the maximum for this chip is 6144. It would be necessary to lower the operating frequencies quite a bit to get it to 150 W of consumption, plus any other dynamic boost technology that laptop manufacturers could include in their equipment.
