CES 2025 to be Packed with Announcements from AMD
AMD is set to launch not one but five new series at CES, featuring a variety of new products.
If the last few months felt slow, January should be far more exciting than any weather forecast predicts. NVIDIA is expected to announce its GeForce RTX 50 series, while Intel will likely provide updates on its Core Ultra 200 mobile SKUs. AMD is also preparing to unveil several new products targeting gamers and tech enthusiasts.
In the laptop market, AMD is set to release various new products, including the low-power Krackan APUs, which may be part of the Ryzen AI 300 lineup. Additionally, the Ryzen AI 300 Max series, known as Strix Halo, is on the horizon. Reliable leaker “zhangzhonghao” on Chiphell suggests that AMD will introduce the next-gen Fire Range series, a successor to Dragon Range, or desktop-class mobile HX-Series. All of these APUs are rumored to feature Zen5 architecture.
For gaming handhelds, AMD is reportedly launching three new APUs: Z2 Extreme (Strix Point), Z2 (Hawk Point), and Z2G (Rembrandt), each spanning across different generations and architectures. AMD seems to have discovered a new niche, with this launch likely to adjust pricing higher (Strix) and lower (Rembrandt), offering gamers more options on the go.
Finally, next week’s Ryzen 9000X3D launch is expected to feature only the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, while the 9950X3D and 9900X3D are anticipated to debut at CES 2025. AMD may focus its November 7 marketing efforts solely on the 8-core variant, with other models to be discussed later.
