Comedian and creator Amelia Dimoldenberg has announced that her viral YouTube series Chicken Shop Date is coming to an end after more than 12 years. The 32-year-old host confirmed the news in a statement shared on Instagram and X on Thursday, stating that a final series of episodes will air before the show wraps up permanently according to Rayo and Dexerto.
Amelia Dimoldenberg Announces End of Chicken Shop Date After More Than a Decade
Reflecting on the journey of the program, Amelia Dimoldenberg wrote in her announcement: When I was 17 I had a fantastic idea that I might meet the love of my life on a date in a chicken shop.
She added: I never thought I’d stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one.
From Youth Club Magazine Column to Global YouTube Phenomenon
The concept originated when Amelia Dimoldenberg was 17 years old, initially starting as a column for a youth club magazine before being adapted into a video series. The first official episode, featuring grime artist Ghetts, was uploaded to YouTube in 2014. Over the course of more than 100 episodes—specifically reaching 115 episodes according to Rayo—the program built a massive audience with more than 3.4 million subscribers on Washington Post.

The show’s unique format combined elements of a talk show and a first date, featuring deadpan humor, awkward interactions, and flirtatious interviews set inside fried chicken shops across London. Over the years, the series generated tens of millions of hours of views and reached audiences globally.
A-List Guests and Viral Cultural Moments
Throughout its run, the series hosted numerous high-profile celebrities, musicians, and actors. Famous guests included Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Cher, Jennifer Lawrence, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Maya Jama, Sean Paul, Shania Twain, Zara Larsson, and Andrew Garfield. Particular episodes, such as those featuring Andrew Garfield and Louis Theroux, spawned widespread viral attention across social media platforms.

Although the primary series is concluding, Rayo reported that fans can expect a final series of episodes before the project officially ends. Amelia Dimoldenberg noted: Before I say goodbye forever, I want to celebrate everything Chicken Shop Date has been for me with a few final dates…coming very soon.
