America praises Libya’s move to increase oil production

The Ministry of Oil and Gas’ plan to increase Libya‘s production won the praise of US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Affairs Jeffrey Pyatt, who met yesterday, Friday, with the Ministers of Oil and Finance and the accompanying delegation in Washington.

According to the media office of the Government of National Unity, during the meeting, the attendees discussed a number of strategic issues, including the economic and political situation in Libya, with a special focus on the oil and gas sector.

During the meeting, the Minister of Oil-designate, Khalifa Abdel-Sadiq, presented the plan of the government and the National Oil Corporation to increase production, which won praise from Jeffrey Butt, according to the media office’s statement.

Abdel Sadiq stressed the importance of American companies participating in the process of raising production according to the plan and reaching 2 million barrels of oil and 4 billion cubic feet of gas per day.

The pivotal role that Libya can play in enhancing global stability of oil supplies, and its strategic role in the global energy market, was also emphasized.

The meeting also touched on the importance of protecting the environment, the plan of the government and the Renewable Energy Agency to provide renewable energy sources in Libya, the commitment to reduce emissions, and reduce gas burning rates to zero levels.

The two sides reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Libya and the United States, and Libya’s readiness to actively participate in the oil field development conference that will be held in Houston.
