American Airlines and Boom Supersonic announce an agreement to purchase 20 aircraft Overture, with an option for 40 additional aircraft. the planesOverture are expected to fly at a speed twice as high as the fastest commercial airplane today.
the planesOverture Built to fly between 65 and 80 passengers at a supersonic speed of 1.7 Mach above the water – or 2 times the speed of today’s fastest commercial aircraft – with a range of 4,250 nautical miles. Also, the planes will operate using only sustainable fuel. The planes are expected to go on the market in 2025 and fly people until 2029.
The supersonic planes are designed to meet the needs of speed, safety and sustainability in the best possible way and are expected to fly about 600 routes around the world in half the current time. For example, a flight between Miami and London will take less than 5 hours, or from Los Angeles to Honolulu in just 3 hours.
the planesOverture of the supersonic boom will join the fleet of American Airlines, which is the most efficient and the youngest of the American airlines. Under the terms of the agreement, Boom Supersonic is committed to complying with the industry standard when it comes to operation and safety.
