WASHINGTON: Famous cartoonist Scott Adams’ Dilbert cartoons have been banned by American newspapers. The ban comes after Adams called black Americans a ‘hate group’ and called on white people in a YouTube video to escape black hell.
Many American newspapers such as the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post dropped Adams’ Dilbert following racial abuse. USA TODAY Network, America’s largest publisher, which includes more than 300 local media outlets in 43 states, has also announced that it will soon be banned.
‘We respect and encourage freedom of expression. But his views are inconsistent with the editorial values of our organization,” said Granet, publisher of the US TODAY Network Group.
The Washington Post has also stated that the Washington Post is banning Scott Adams’ Dilbert cartoons, which have been divisive. She also explained that many readers have contacted the office asking to drop the cartoon.
There was an outcry on social media demanding a media boycott of Adams’ cartoons. Adams, who previously spoke about diversity in America, is now accused of coming out against black people.
