Washington: Donald Trump, the leader of the Republican Party and former president, has hinted that he will contest the 2024 US presidential election. While speaking at an event organized by the far-right organization America First Policy Institute in Washington, Trump hinted that he would contest again.
Trump, who returned from the White House after losing to Joe Biden of the Democratic Party in the last election, is coming to Washington for the first time in 18 months. “I always say, I ran the first time and won, then ran the second time and did better,” Trump said. Trump won 10 million more votes in the 2020 election than in the first election, but was unable to match Biden.
The high turnout in the election was a setback for Trump. “We will have to do it again to set the country straight,” Trump said, adding that he will share more details in the coming weeks and months. At the same time, Trump reiterated the allegations of irregularities in the presidential election. Trump had earlier accused Biden of winning by rigging the election and casting false votes.
