American Woman Living Near Gaza describes Terrorist Attack on Israel

An American woman, Adele Raemer, living only one mile away from the Gaza Strip, has expressed her fear after Hamas militants infiltrated her daughter’s home and killed three members of her community. Raemer, a 68-year-old retired teacher who moved to Israel from the Bronx in 1975, documented her experience while hiding in her safe room as the terrorists raided her building.

In a video update recorded from her safe room, Raemer stated, “I have to say this is very scary. I’ve never been this scared in my life.” The attack by Hamas left at least 482 people dead and another 3,200 injured in less than one day. Dozens of individuals have been reportedly kidnapped and taken across the border into the Gaza Strip.

Raemer, who also entertains children in hospitals as a clown, first documented the attack in a post on Saturday morning. She described the sudden barrage of rockets and machine gun fire, expressing her uncertainty about the presence of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Raemer reported that Hamas militants were trying to break into her kibbutz and vividly conveyed her fear and anxiousness during the attack.

The night before the attack, Raemer had posted a video celebrating the 77th anniversary of her community. Little did she know that within hours, her community would be at war. According to The New York Post, her son-in-law was forced to shoot militants who stormed the home where her grandchildren live, resulting in the deaths of three members of her kibbutz and nine terrorists.

Raemer expressed her astonishment, stating, “This is just totally unprecedented. We never had anything like this before.” She added, “The sheer number of rockets that are being shot at the same time is overwhelming Iron Dome,” referring to Israel’s missile defense system. Raemer continued to document her experience, despite her terror, and shared photos and information about the ongoing situation.

Eventually, Raemer was rescued by soldiers who helped her to safety. She described leaving her home with only the clothes she was wearing, her purse, sleeping pills, and shoes. She emphasized the urgency and chaos surrounding the situation, mentioning that she hadn’t even had a chance to brush her teeth or clean her face before fleeing.

Raemer shared images and videos of the damage caused during the attack, while expressing her support for the Israeli Defense Forces. She stated, “What is happening here, and in other communities along the border, is the case of a terrorist army invading a sovereign state. I will not apologize for any military action that our IDF take in order to return safety to our lives.”

Currently, Raemer remains in the kibbutz under the protection of the army. She described the conditions and the sense of fear within her community. The attack has resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries, including the kidnapping and transportation of civilians across the border into the Gaza Strip.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has caused immense fear and devastation for those living near the Gaza Strip. Adele Raemer’s firsthand account sheds light on the relentless attacks and the impact they have on innocent civilians in the region.
