/ Hundreds of American citizens are planning to head to the Texas border to form a line of resistance to immigrants from Mexico and prevent their entry by force, as they form a group calling itself “God’s Army.”

According to Business Insider, the group, called “Take Our Border Back,” is organizing its movement on Telegram, and has 1,600 followers so far.

The group, described by one of its organizers as “God’s Army,” will move into Texas on Monday, starting in Virginia, and will hold three rallies in California, Arizona and Texas on Feb. 3.

Wired magazine published an article describing the group as an “armed convoy,” to which the group responded: “We are not calling for arms. It is a call to deal with anyone who crosses the border. We are here to peacefully protest under our rule.”

The group said one of its goals was to immediately stop illegal immigration and close the borders.

It is not clear how the group plans to confront migrants at the border and prevent them from entering.

Texas National Guard troops have clashed with the federal government after they installed barbed wire in a park on the Rio Grande River, where migrants often cross.

Tensions over immigration are rising, and the issue looks likely to be a major issue in the presidential election later this year.

Migration rates have reached record levels, with US officials saying that about 300,000 people tried to cross the border last December.
