For the first time, the majority of time spent on the small screen is dedicated to YouTube, Netflix and Disney+.

“The golden age of traditional television is behind us”, insists analyst Tim Nollen. The biggest American television channels like ABC, NBC or CBS have become over the years giants with feet of clay in the face of the success of the streaming giants. “We are seeing a sea change in the way people consume content: they increasingly want to watch Netflix and even YouTube from their living room, on the biggest screen in their home”, abounds the specialist in the media sector. July 2023 thus marks a real turning point: for the first time, the majority of the time spent by Americans in front of their television was devoted to something other than watching traditional television channels, according to the latest data released by Nielsen.
