More than half of US residents consider illegal immigration to the US a critical threat to the country. This is stated in the results of a survey conducted by Gallup, Day.Az reports.
“A separate question in the survey shows that a record 55% of U.S. adults, up eight points from last year, said that “the large number of immigrants entering the United States illegally” is a critical threat to vital U.S. interests. Previous the maximum was 50% in 2004,” the survey results say.
In addition, the study’s authors noted that due to unsuccessful congressional efforts on immigration and a foreign aid package, the government agency’s job approval rating has dropped to 12%. “This is the lowest congressional approval rating since it was 11% in November 2015,” Gallup added.
The study was conducted from February 1 to 20 among 1,016 Americans over 18 years of age. The poll’s margin of error is 4%.
