Hapoel Rishon Lezion, which survived at the last minute in the national league, announced a change in the coach’s position when Amir Nussbaum steps into Ofir Kopel’s shoes. Nussbaum, 41, who coached Kiryat Shmona and MS last season. Kfar Qassem will replace Kopel, who sought to be released from office due to his medical condition.
Ophir Kopel said after his departure: “Due to my health condition due to coronary heart disease and its accompanying symptoms I had to give up team coaching next season. I thank the owners and management for the trust and opportunity to coach the senior team, but in my current situation I believe Jehovah is right “This is in other hands. I got to know wonderful people who work day and night for the club. I wish the club and everyone involved in it great success.”
Nussbaum closes a special circle for him, as he played for the club between 1998 and 2006. The new coach said after the appointment: “I am very happy to sign in Rishon Lezion, in fact a club where I started my career as a player. For me it is closing a circle and I thank the challenge that is expected and I hope that hard work will bring good results.”
