Production on the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati has paused for a week, with conflicting reports emerging over whether health concerns surrounding veteran host Amitabh Bachchan or scheduling conflicts prompted the halt.
Filming Halted on Set
The shooting for new episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati stopped over a week ago in Mumbai. Sources connected to the production offered differing explanations for the delay.
According to ABP News, an insider speaking to IANS stated that the actor had not been feeling well recently, prompting producers to halt new recordings. The Indian Express reported on Nov. 7, 2026, that another source attributed the pause not to health issues, but to scheduling unavailability.
Network Shifts Celebrity Episode to Diwali Week
Before the production break took effect, the show recorded a large celebrity episode featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Ravi Dubey. The three actors appeared on the set to promote their upcoming film Ramayan.
The network originally planned to air the segment closer to the movie’s theatrical release. Due to the recent developments on set, the channel altered its broadcast strategy, airing the celebrity appearance during the Diwali special week instead of holding it.
Bachchan Reflects on Routine
Addressing his daily life on his blog, Bachchan wrote about the challenge of returning to a standard working routine after time away. He noted that he occasionally misplaced everyday items like his glasses or mobile phone.
He retained vivid memories of attending school during the eighth grade in 1960. He also expressed appreciation for his audience, television viewers, and Sunday well-wishers.
Production sources indicated that filming could resume as early as next week, depending on how the schedule proceeds. SonyLIV confirmed that new episodes of the quiz show are scheduled to air starting November 16, 2026.
