“This will also be done in Canada,” said the president when questioned by the press about the government’s position on judicial reform.

In his morning press conference on Friday, the president described as interventionist the position of the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, who said that the judicial reform puts the trade relationship between the two countries at risk.
For this reason, the Mexican president, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sent a diplomatic letter to the US Embassy, in which he expressed his surprise at the recent statements made by Ambassador Salazar.

“The Government of Mexico is committed to a judiciary that enjoys true independence, autonomy and legitimacy, thereby strengthening the rule of law and improving access to justice for all,” reads the letter sent to the U.S. embassy.
