At the age of 22, Sulemana Abdul Samet started noticing her immense height.
Sulemana Abdul Samet, a 29-year-old from Kambaka, a village in northern Ghana, is 9 feet 6 inches tall. The first big challenge was to measure his exact height. Sulemana Abdul Samet went to the rural health center to have her height measured. But there are no instruments that can measure such a large height. Then they took him outside and stopped him near a pole and measured his height. In it, Samet was found to be 9 feet 6 inches tall.
Sultan Gosen from Turkey currently holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest man in the world. He is seen with a height of 8 feet 2.8 inches. Sulemana Abdul Samet is taller than him with a height of 9 feet 6 inches. Affectionately known as Auche by his villagers, he says he started noticing his immense height at the age of 22. This got him into various physical problems.
While living with his brother in the capital Accra, Auche began to suffer physically when he developed spinal curvature. Even before that he is seen with a bent spine. Medical tests revealed that he was suffering from a genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissue. Doctors say he needs surgery as it can be a more serious complication that can lead to heart defects. But Auche was disheartened as the surgery was costly. As a result, Auche returned to his native village 6 years ago and gave up his dream of becoming a driver.
Auche said, “I used to play football like any other youth; I was also an athlete. But now I can’t even walk a short distance. I can’t learn to drive a car because of the extreme height,” he lamented.
As Auche is known as a tall man, many people come to look for him and take pictures with him. Despite his physical pain, Auche eagerly greets those who come to see him and poses for photographs.
Auche, who says that none of her relatives, including her brothers, has this height problem, eloquently mentions that her entire family supports and loves her. Auche, who says she wants to get married and have children, is currently focusing on maintaining her health.
Auche, who is trying to raise money for the operation, seems confident, oblivious to his physical pains. Auche speaks positively and says that even in this difficult situation, God has not abandoned him and there is no problem with the way God made me.
