/ The Jordanian national team seeks to register its name in the list of Asian champions for the first time in its history, in the anticipated match tomorrow, Saturday, against its Qatari counterpart, the host of the tournament, in the final stage of the Asian Cup.

Lusail Stadium in Doha will host the Asian Cup final on Saturday between the Qatari national team, which eliminated Iran, and the “Al-Nashama” team, which defeated South Korea in the previous stage.

The Iranian, Saudi, Japanese, Iraqi and Qatari teams have previously won the major tournament in their first final, which is what the Jordanian team seeks to achieve as it has never played in the final in its history.

The first edition of the Asian Cup was launched with the knockout system in 1972, and Iran won its second title, which witnessed its first qualification to the final, as it won the previous edition that was operated with the group system.

Against South Korea in Bangkok, Thailand in 1972, the Iranian team took the lead with a goal by Ali Jabbari, which was equalized by Park Lee-Chun in the 65th minute before Hossein Kalani settled the match in the 108th minute.

The Saudi team is the first Arab team to win the championship after its first qualification to the final in 1984 in the championship held in Singapore.

The Saudi team played the final against China and ended the match with two goals without a response, scored by Shaye Al-Nafisa and Majed Abdullah, to open the “Green Falcons” crowning the Arabs in the first final.

The Green Falcons returned to the third final in a row when they faced Japan in the 1992 final, when the “Samurai” achieved their first championship in their first appearance as well through Takuya Takagi.

Asia waited 15 years to know a new champion in its first final, when Iraq achieved its only championship with a goal by Younis Mahmoud against Saudi Arabia in 2007.

The last edition of the Asian Cup, which was held in the UAE, witnessed a new champion in its first qualification, when the Qatari team defeated the Japanese team 3-1 in the final in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
