The number of unemployment in the federal capital is falling! There has been a sharp decline in the catering and hotel industries in particular.

The number of people registered as unemployed at AMS Vienna fell by 20.3 percent year-on-year to 108,747 in October 2021, while AMS customers in training rose by 6.8 percent to 31,966. The sum of both groups has decreased by 15.4 percent.

Year-on-year, the number of people over the age of 50 who are unemployed or in training has fallen by 15.4 percent, and that of those under 25 by 11.2 percent.

Lots of vacancies

There was a sharp increase in the number of vacancies reported by the Viennese companies. In October alone, the AMS Vienna received 8,300 new jobs to fill, 40 percent more than a year ago. “We can see from this that the Viennese companies are now again very much in demand for our services,” says AMS Vienna Vice President Winfried Göschl.

And further: “This year’s AMS Business Tour has just ended. As part of this three-week campaign, 115 company professionals from the AMS Vienna personally visited no less than 1,200 Viennese companies – to help with recruiting, to provide information about the job market or to find out more to advise on possible funding such as the springboard campaign. “

Unemployment decreased

AMS Vienna supports around 11,000 companies in terms of staffing and more than 25,000 companies in the context of short-time working allowances.

Looking at major industries, unemployment fell in October in construction by 18.9 percent, in hotels and restaurants by 38.4 percent, in goods production by 20.6 percent and in retail by 16.3 percent.
