Lindsey Burrow and BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia are set to push a 129-kilometre red studio sofa across Yorkshire. The five-day charity challenge begins in Ripon on 9 November 2026, raising funds for BBC Children in Need.

Previous Challenges and the Heavy Reality of the Red Sofa
This marks the second time the BBC Look North studio sofa has ventured outdoors for a major charity effort. In 2018, the Big 50 Sofa Challenge raised almost £200,000 for Sport Relief with presenter Amy Garcia, the late Harry Gration, and weather presenter Paul Hudson.
Garcia noted that the current furniture piece feels noticeably heavier than the one used eight years ago.
We did a test push for about 500 yards and it’s a lot harder than I expected. I think it’s going to be a real challenge, to say the least.

Garcia and Lindsey Burrow previously teamed up in 2025 for a Children in Need Three-Legged Challenge, walking 30 miles across Yorkshire with their legs tied together. Lindsey Burrow has also completed several marathons dedicated to the memory of her late husband, rugby league legend Rob Burrow, who died in 2024 following a four-and-a-half-year battle with motor neurone disease.
Lindsey and I are both mums and we are passionate about trying to help other children who don’t get the same opportunities.
