Jaffna – An 18-year-old girl drowned while taking a dip in a reservoir in Karkovalam area of Vadamaratshi.
This incident took place today (20).
The girl, who hails from Kilinochchi, had come to her sister’s house in Kalkovalam area and had gone for a swim in the nearby reservoir with four friends.
Death of a young woman
Meanwhile, the friends who observed her drowning in the water screamed and nearby soldiers rescued her and she was admitted to the Phuduthurai Base Hospital where she died.
The body has now been kept for post-mortem examination at the Parutthurai Research Hospital.
The Purdue police are conducting intensive investigations into the death of the said young woman.
