Ukraine has expressed its anger at tennis star Djokovic’s father for allegedly showing support for Russia.
Djokovic wins
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic’s father Srdan Dokovic celebrates after his son reached the semi-finals.
He then posed for a photo with some flag-waving Russian supporters.
And he wore Putin’s ‘Z’ symbol. This angered Ukraine.
Banned by Djokovic’s father
Following this, the ambassador of Ukraine has requested that Srdan Dokovic be banned from the Australian Open. A video of the controversial moment has surfaced on a pro-Russian YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, police and Tennis Australia later confirmed that four spectators had been evacuated from Melbourne Park.
It is worth noting that Australian Open entry rules do not prohibit any flags in favor of Russia or Belarus due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, while Ukrainian players are allowed to play under the national flag.
