Pathetic. Seven Cuban officials have been sanctioned after a Halloween party that saw an Adolf Hitler costume win top prize, generating criticism on social media, the Cuban Music Institute announced on Saturday.
“The deputy director of the Cuban Rock Agency, responsible for programming, was dismissed from his position and the two specialists who coordinated the event were excluded from the institution,” the organization announced on Facebook. Four other officials were subject to “disciplinary measures”.
Under “applause and ovations”
On October 28, a participant dressed as Hitler won first prize at the party at the Maxim Rock cultural center in Havana. According to pro-government media outlet Cuba Debate, the awards ceremony took place amid “applause and ovations” but then sparked “criticism and a debate that spread through the media and public opinion.”
The room, closed since the incident, resumed its activities on Saturday.
