an Advent calendar to wait for Christmas while reading – Liberation

by time news

Each week, “Liberation” reviews the news of children’s books. Today, 24 classic tales in mini version, to discover daily in December.

Let’s not talk about salads: to wait for Christmas as it should be, children want an Advent calendar covered in chocolates. Ideally very fatty and very sweet, of the kind flanked by a red, white and black logo. How about offering them a deal? Cholesterol, okay, but if you feed your intellect at the same time, my little candy cane. This is where the Père Castor Advent calendar comes in. This elegant midnight blue and gold object is equipped with 24 small balconies each holding a mini-book, to be read why not before leaving for school, or quietly at the end of the day, your lips smeared with chocolate from the competing calendar. We did the test: each story can be read in less than five minutes (sometimes much less).

The child will thus discover a classic of children’s literature every day, familiarizing himself, if he has not already done so, with the Three Little Pigs, Michka, the little red hen – yes, the one who finds herself desperately alone baking bread is here red and not red –, Hansel et Gretel… A great way to pass on our cultural heritage. And since the books, nicely illustrated, are tiny, they will conveniently find their place in a bag before a train trip or a restaurant outing, to keep the little one occupied without being encumbered. In addition, this calendar has an advantage over its edible competitors: you can bring it out next year, and the following ones.

The Father Beaver Advent Calendar: 24 little books to wait for Christmas, Flammarion Youth, €24. From 3 years.
