Mr. Principal:

On April 30, 1842, Colonel José Luis Pereyra died in Santiago, Chile. In 1806, he participated in the defense and reconquest of Buenos Aires invaded by the English. He participated in the events of May 1810 on the side of the patriot cause. He joined the Regiment of Grenadiers on Horseback, created by San Martín, and in 1813 participated in the combat of San Lorenzo. He was part of the Auxiliary Army of Peru, under the command of General Rondeau and the Army of the Andes, for the liberation of Chile. He was director of the Military Academy of Santiago. He was born in Buenos Aires on June 21, 1792. Like so many unknown men and women, Pereyra deserves the recognition of the Argentines for defending this land.
