A health worker in Rajapalayam who at his own expense attached a garbage cart to a motorcycle for cleaning is receiving praise.
There are 42 wards in Rajapalayam Municipality of Virudhunagar District. In this case, a total of 431 people including 141 permanent employees and 300 people on behalf of private companies are working to collect garbage collected throughout the municipality.
In this case, out of 70 battery garbage carts provided by the government, only 25 are currently in use. The municipal administration is engaged in repairing the damaged vehicles. After that, garbage is removed using pushcarts in areas where vehicles are not used. This increases the working hours and wastes the physical labor of the workers.
Following this, Ramar, who has been working as a permanent employee in the municipality for the past 10 years, has been collecting garbage by attaching the part used for load-carrying dry cycles to his two-wheeler at his own expense in order to reduce his workload.
Following this, Rs. Ram said that the tricycle he bought at an estimated cost of 20,000 can carry around 200 kg of garbage.
Municipal Commissioner Parthasarathy and fellow health department officials have appreciated Ram’s initiative and paid their respects by wearing bonnets.
