Tyler Loudon of Houston, Texas (USA) faces charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for allegedly making nearly $2 million in insider trading.

The SEC reports this.

The American is charged with obtaining confidential information, which he allegedly obtained by eavesdropping on his wife’s work telephone conversations. The US Securities and Exchange Commission accused Tyler Loudon of using his wife’s remote work situation to gain advantages in the stock market.

According to the SEC, the man eavesdropped on numerous work conversations conducted by his wife, a mergers and acquisitions manager at BP. SEC employees claim that the American, without the knowledge of his wife, began purchasing shares of the company, which was the main purpose of the upcoming transaction. The purchase was completed several weeks before the official announcement of the merger, which took place on February 16, 2023.

The man eventually confessed his actions to his wife, stating that his goal was to earn enough money so that she would no longer have to work so hard. Upon learning of Loudon’s actions, the company fired his wife, despite the lack of evidence of her direct participation in the leak of confidential information.
