A historical and cultural approach to the painting of the houses of Zagori was the event of the Alumni Association of the Zosima School of Ioannina with the speaker being the graduate of the Zosima School, associate professor at the Department of Visual Arts and Art Sciences of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina Stefanos Tsiodoulos.
The event was graced by the presence of the deputy regional governor Agni Nakou, the former minister and MP Stavros Kalogiannis, the former rector and president of DIPETHE Giorgos Kapsalis, the former mayor and current councilor Filippos Filios, the president, the general secretary and the members of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association, many members and friends, who attended an excellent talk – presentation about painting in the houses of Zagori, which was accompanied by the projection of unique paintings by folk painters on the walls of the houses.
A dialogue followed with many questions to the speaker, with the main topic being the importance of this material, because the painting of the houses of Zagori is in danger of being lost due to the abandonment of many houses. It should be noted that the book of St. Tsiodoulou for the painting of the houses of Zagori has been awarded by the Academy of Athens in 2011.
The president of the Board of Directors, Dimitris Panos, in his greeting, thanked the speaker and all those present, informed about the actions of the Association and focused on the Association’s effort to organize honorary events worthy of the Zosimaa School on the occasion of completing 200 years of its operation.
