An unusual event in Tiberias: an Arab from the village of Yafia tried to kidnap an ultra-Orthodox woman in broad daylight in a central area.

The woman told the Jewish Voice that while she was walking near the central station in Tiberias, a car pulled up on the sidewalk, blocked her, and an Arab got out of it and tried to kidnap her and force her into his car. “I screamed, managed to free myself and run away from him and called the police,” the woman said.

The woman and her husband stated that they had no prior acquaintance with the Arabs.

Police forces that arrived at the scene located the suspect and he was arrested. The police say that all the directions of the investigation are being examined and that the suspect is a 51-year-old resident of the village of Yafia.

Upon receiving the report, the Northern District police officers arrived at the scene of the incident, began searching the nearby streets and a short time later managed to arrest the 51-year-old suspect, a resident of Yafia. The suspect was brought to the police station in the city and at this stage the investigation is in its infancy and all directions of the investigation are being examined.”
