At the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), with the support of the Russian House in Baku, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the Republican project “Books and Writers of Anniversary 2023,” Day.Az reports.

The event was attended by the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Azerbaijan Irek Zinnurov, the first secretary of the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan Pavel Kuznetsov, the chairman of the Russian community of Azerbaijan, the deputy of the Milli Majlis (parliament) Mikhail Zabelin, the head of the department of the Baku State University Irada Huseynova, the director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS Mamed Aliyev , Chairman of the Association of Teachers of Russian-language Educational Institutions of Azerbaijan Lyubov Yakunina.

It was noted that the main goal of the project is to develop a love for books in children, to introduce them to the works of the best poets and writers of Russia, Azerbaijan, near and far abroad, and to develop interest in literature. In the age of digital technology, even the most modern computers and neural networks cannot replace a book – an eternal source of knowledge. Gratitude was expressed for active participation in the project and wishes for further success in new projects that could reveal and develop the creative capabilities of the younger generation.

The project involved not only schoolchildren and university students from cities and regions of Azerbaijan, but also students of the Chechen State Pedagogical University, Astrakhan State University named after V.N. Tatishchev, students of a private school named after Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin in Istanbul.

The artistic part featured performances by the children’s theater “Günay”, the dance ensemble “Lalələr” of the Palace of Culture of the village of Mardakan, a student of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Teymur Kazimov, students of the Russian language course at the Russian House and students of school No. 145 Baku. The celebration was hosted by theater and film actress, teacher-accompanist of the Baku Choreographic Academy Nigar Hasanzade.
