Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disability that is characterized by difficulties in social interaction and communication, those who suffer from it frequently have problems with social communication and interaction, in addition to having restrictive or repetitive behaviors or interests.

To provide care for this disease, the Secretary of Health of the State of Mexico, through the State Center for Rehabilitation and Special Education (CEREE), offers comprehensive treatments to girls and boys with this condition, through physical and occupational therapy, use of tools visual, auditory and tactile, which allow patients to perceive stimuli to improve their physical, motor, psychological and language development.

In this sense, the agency underlines the importance of having an early diagnosis to start timely treatment, since the capacity and needs of people with autism are variable in each patient and can evolve over time.

However, he points out that some can live independently, but others need constant care and support throughout their lives.

Therefore, call the parents, as some symptoms can be observed before the first year of life, such as language delay, difficulty communicating or interacting, as well as the presence of restricted and repetitive behaviors.

Once this disorder has been diagnosed, the Mexican Ministry of Health suggests offering interventions to the child or adolescent through integrated health services, which include the care of various specialists, according to the needs of each patient.

Said care is provided at the CEREE, as well as for other neurodevelopmental conditions, through rehabilitation services, pediatric dentistry, physical, occupational and psychological therapy, hydrotherapy services, early and multisensory stimulation, which are provided by a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors and therapists.
