An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck near the village of Val on the northeast coast of Sakhalin, the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

The earthquake occurred in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, 15 km northeast of the settlement at a depth of 15 km at about 08:18 local time (00:18 Moscow time).

An earthquake hit Sakhalin

The tremors were felt in the city of Okha, in the villages of Vostochnoye, Tungor, Ekhabi, Val and in the village of Nogliki with an intensity of 3 points. According to preliminary data, no one was injured as a result of the earthquake, and no damage was found either.

After that, another earthquake of magnitude 3.2 was registered 16 km from the village of Chayvo in the north of the island, ASTV reports. It happened at 8:42 local time (0:42 Moscow time) – 24 minutes after the first one. The epicenter was at a depth of 8 km.
