Initiated by the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Council, in partnership with the African Chamber of Commerce and Services (CACS), this two-day mission (November 19 and 20) constitutes a real crossroads, where the experiences and expertise of each territory interact for co-development and innovative investment synergies.

It also offers an opportunity for Moroccan, French and Ivorian economic operators to examine the prospects for cooperation and consolidate economic complementarity between the three regions in several productive sectors.

In a speech for the occasion, the President of the Council of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, El Khattat Yanja indicated that this meeting constitutes a unique opportunity to strengthen the links between the three regions and build a promising economic future.

“The distinguished presence of the Occitanie and Tonkpi regions testifies to the importance we attach to interregional cooperation,” remarked Mr. Yanja, noting that this meeting aims to explore investment opportunities, share respective experiences and work together to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.

Due to its strategic position, its economic potential and its business climate conducive to investment, Dakhla aims to become a catalyst for fruitful partnerships, he continued, expressing his determination to work together to achieve common goals and create a prosperous future for the benefit of the three regions.

Similarly, Mr. Yanja highlighted the various economic potentials that the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region has in many and varied sectors, ranging from tourism to renewable energies, including logistics, agriculture, aquaculture and fishing.

For his part, the Vice-President of the Occitanie Region, Jalil Benabdillah, stressed the need to develop, energize and support interregional cooperation, with a view to establishing fruitful partnerships in various sectors.

“The Occitanie Regional House has been present in Casablanca since 2012,” he recalled, adding that Morocco wants to be a hub towards sub-Saharan Africa, opening the way to prospects of cooperation with the countries of the continent in the cultural, economic and social fields.

Mr. Benabdillah also reviewed the most promising sectors in the Occitanie Region, including aeronautics, agriculture, the social and solidarity economy, business creation and research and development, recalling that a roadmap had been established, setting out the flagship projects and sectors to be prioritized.

For his part, the president of the Tonkpi region, Abdallah Albert Toikeuse Mabri, welcomed the dynamics of territorial development experienced by the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, recalling the framework agreement for decentralized cooperation signed in Abidjan last May, between the Tonkpi region and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.

This meeting was punctuated by a series of presentations highlighting the structuring projects and investment potential that abound in the regions of Occitanie (Tonkpi and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab).

During their stay, economic operators and institutional actors will carry out field visits to the port of Dakhla Atlantic, to an agricultural farm, to a fishery product processing unit and to the craft complex in Dakhla.

On the sidelines of this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Occitanie Economic Development Agency (ADOCC) and the African Chamber of Commerce and Services (CACS), aimed at facilitating exchanges and cooperation between the two regions, mobilizing expertise and experiences or developing synergies in areas of common interest.
