Cuniburo bought shares in UD Montijo in Spain, where Negriazul owns Numancia.

The owners of Independiente del Valle broke new ground in Ecuador by forming a group of teams in the country for the first time. The Rayados model wants to extend to other places, which is why they bought Numancia from Spain at first and then Atlético Huila from Colombia.

IDV became a model club for South America, so an Ecuadorian team is following in its footsteps. This is Cuniburo, a team that plays in Serie B, where they were very close to achieving promotion by finishing in third place. Cuni announced that its owners bought a first package of shares in UD Montijo, a team in Spain’s fourth division.

«The MPRO company made up of Germán Corengia and Jan Spaarwater, acquired a first share package of the UD Montijo Club of Spain that is in the Second RFEF tournament. Where through a strategic vision we will seek to carry out a comprehensive executive and sports model,” Cuniburo reported in a statement.

Cuniburo became the second Ecuadorian club to be part of a group of teams. The Cayambe team had an agreement with Montijo to send and receive players to both clubssomething that may be easier now that the owners have shares in both clubs.

Training players is one of the great objectives of the Cuniburo leadership, having a management model that gives a lot of importance to the youth teams.. After working with Montijo for a few years, Corengia and Spaartwater made the decision to acquire a package of shares in the Spanish club to take control of it.

Cuniburo wants to make the jump to Serie A and hopes to achieve it in 2024. Those from Cayambe will play their second season in Serie B, where they managed to compete until the end for one of the two promotions, but ended up falling by the wayside.
