The state of emergency (ES) is introduced on the territory of the Penza region due to the arrival in the region of residents of the unrecognized Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR). This was reported in the official Telegram channel of the government of the Penza region. Earlier, the state of emergency was introduced in the Rostov, Voronezh and Kursk regions.
“From February 21, in the Penza region, an emergency regime was introduced for the authorities, the system for preventing and eliminating emergencies. The corresponding order was signed by Governor Oleg Melnichenko,” the statement said.
On February 18, the heads of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR announced the evacuation of civilians to Russian territory. This decision was made in connection with the aggravation of the conflict with official Kiev. All arriving residents will be accommodated in year-round children’s camps, as well as in boarding houses. They will be provided with hot meals, bed linen and basic necessities. Also, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, citizens will receive financial assistance in the amount of 10 thousand rubles.
Acting head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Chupriyan said that since the beginning of the evacuation, more than 53 thousand people have arrived in the Russian Federation. According to him, the arrived citizens were placed in 101 temporary accommodation centers.
